About Salt di Italia
Where Italian tradition meets the Australian coast
Salt di Italia was born from a simple dream: to bring the warmth, flavour and spirit of an Italian seaside trattoria to the shores of the Mornington Peninsula.
Perched on the sand at Rye beach, our doors open early for morning espressos and slow breakfasts, through to long lunches of handmade pasta and afternoon aperitivi, and into the evening with wood-fired pizza, fresh seafood, and the kind of conversation that only happens when good food meets a beautiful sunset.
Our kitchen draws on generations of Italian cooking — from the rustic trattorias of Puglia to the elegant seafood bars of the Amalfi Coast. Every dish is made with care, from our house-pulled mozzarella to our slow-simmered ragù, using the freshest local and imported ingredients.
The name says it all: Salt — the sea, the coast, the essential ingredient — di Italia — the heart, the soul, the tradition. Together, they capture everything we are.
Whether you're dropping in for a flat white and pastry, gathering the family for Sunday lunch, or celebrating with cocktails and a three-course dinner — there's a seat at our table for you.
Benvenuti. Welcome to Salt di Italia.
